First Impressions
Table Of Contents
In the adventures I’ve had over this past year, it is a recurring theme where places that offer the fewest options, have the best experiences (either in the drinks or the ambiance). Not saying that’s the case everywhere, but Spyhouse definitely follows that vibe.
I parked around back, and walked through the “back way” to get in. The design of the entire building was lovely. Warehouse-style vintage-chic modern art sprinkled in on the walls and ceilings. Walking in from the back, it almost had speakeasy bar vibes. You’d never know there was a coffee shop unless you knew where to look. This hightened the experience for me.
Atmosphere & Experience
I barely have words. The air has the scent of freshly roasted beans and the interior design is beyond beautiful. A dream office atmosphere for me. Wooden floors, wooden ceilings, cream city brickwork, exposed industrial pipes and vents, yellow lighting, wooden furniture… impressive barely covers what I was feeling there.
From the back entrance, there was large roasting equipment on the left, and lots of little 1 and 2-person table setups for people to sit at. Walking to the front, was a small glass bakery selection, the staff, menu and an abundance of plant life. There were massive wooden doors leading to the front entrance, and a wide open space with community tables and high-tops.
Similar to the top echelons of coffee culture (like Vendetta or Discourse to name a few), Spyhouse’s leadership makes the effort to give each one of their locations its own custom design treatment. You can consistently visit for quality beverages, but have slightly different mental and emotional experiences at each of their locations. While I wasn’t able to visit their other locations on this trip, I look forward to doing so in the future!

Austin’s Choice
Their iced matcha is a great choice. One of the nice aspects of Spyhouse, is that they have a very minimal menu, but then they spend a lot of time and energy on creating each drink. So you really can’t go wrong with anything they offer!
