First Impressions
Windsor Breads Bakery and Coffeehouse is a small-town bakery and coffee shop located just north of Madison in Windsor, WI. The building itself is a historic treasure, containing a vault that was originally built for use in the Windsor State Bank back in 1914.

Atmosphere & Experience
The interior is small with red walls. There are one or two tables inside with some outdoor seating options (weather permitting). While I was there, I learned that they donate all of their old baked goods to a local charity, so nothing goes to waste! I always appreciate finding places that try to give back to their community and avoid wasting as much as possible. They also try to feature local artists and other trinkets and gifts for customers to check out. It was nice chatting with the locals in line, learning more about the area. The register was staffed by this wonderful old lady that tied the whole ambiance together. That with the smell of the baked goods, brought me back to memories of my own grandmothers’ baked goods (which if you must know, was Kringle and frozen frosted sugar cookies).
Overall, while they offer coffee and tea options (which were decent), their specialty really is focused on being a small-town staple of bakery items. Given how small of a town Windsor is, it’s nice to have a coffee shop big or small as a place for community to build and congregate.
