Whirlybird originated from a mother and daughter; Loralie and Liz. What started off as a dishwasher purchase… Yeah I know… that’s a unique origin story…but yes, it sounds like the idea for this business venture sprung from trying to buy a dishwasher. One thing turned to another… and they ended up developing a coffee shop! The cafe’s name “Whirlybird” references the local maple seed that spins as it floats down from the maple trees commonly found in Northern Chippewa County forests. They are known for their friendly, community-oriented atmosphere. From what I’ve heard, they often remember regulars’ names (similar to Sacred Bean) and overall try to foster a very welcoming environment. Occasionally, they will sell fights, but overall a pretty standard coffee and tea selection.
Whirlybird is one of those places that’s tucked away (hidden gem vibes). They are located inside the Dove Healthcare Business and Clinic Suites building in Chippewa Falls, WI. There’s an assortment of tables to work at or gather with friends. There’s also a very nice stone fireplace which adds to the homey vibe!
After getting my order and taking my photos/video of the place, I sat down in front of the fireplace to enjoy my beverage. This very nice gentleman came over and asked if he could join me. We talked awhile about his business (Orchid Apothecary) and the area around there. He was very familiar with the area, and helped me know where else to stop! Having the opportunity to sit and talk with him was a pleasure, and added flavor to the visit!

When I visited, it was Domestic Violence Awareness month so they had a Blackberry Lavender Latte with Blackberry Cold Foam, topped with purple sprinkles. It was SO good!!
