First Impressions
Table Of Contents
Across the street from Spyhouse was another highly recommended location. Turns out Dogwood Coffee Co is a highly sought-after study location for local students and teleworkers. To me, Dogwood Coffee seems like a location aimed at productivity and learning. I was pretty impressed to hear they even have an academy for people looking to learn the trades of becoming a Barista. If given the opportunity, I would absolutely love to take their courses!
The origin of Dogwood was in 2010 when a small team of local coffee entrepreneurs that wanted to bring high-end roasting to the Minneapolis market in a more accessible way. It seems their playful branding was chosen to help remove the intimidation from specialty coffee, and to try and bring people together to enjoy high quality goods!
Atmosphere & Experience
The interior reminds me a lot of Wantable Cafe (a work-study cafe in Milwaukee, WI). It has large windows that let as much natural light in as possible. There is a patio outside with tables and chairs to enjoy if the weather is nice. There’s even a room dedicated to ping-pong for a break between work/study tasks!
They have a full espresso bar, complete with single-origin pour-overs and seasonal coffees. They have matcha and chai, along with bakery options as well!
They roast their own blends, behind an artistic not-quite-stained-glass collage of artwork on glass.

Austin’s Choice
Whenever given the opportunity, I tend to opt for Espresso Tonics (which is what I sampled here). It’s hard to go wrong with this. It’s refreshing with a hint of sweetness, the carbonation adds a nice texture, and the rich flavor of espresso leaves the all-too-familiar aftertaste. Perfection.
